PBGEN Eliseo DC Cruz, Regional Director for CALABARZON police handed-over food packs and sacks of rice to 15 Former Rebels during the presentation of Communists Terrorist Group (CTG) surenderees today held at Multi-Purpose Center, Camp Vicente Lim, Canlubang, Laguna.
10 of the said recipients were identified to be operating in the Red Areas and the other 5 were identified to have been operating in the White Areas. The 15 individuals voluntarily surrendered to authorities during the joint counter insurgency operations of the PNP and AFP counterparts.
‘Ka Boyet,’ one of the Former Rebels during his testimony said that they have decided to surrender because they wanted to have their freedom and live peacefully. “Ayaw na po namin ng giyera at gulo, nais po namin ng kapayapaan,” he said.
‘Ka Boyet’ also expressed gratitude to the government especially to the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces for giving them the chance to rebuild their lives and start anew. “Nagpapasalamat po kami dahil nakita ninyo ang aming pangangailangan katulad ng eskwelahan dahil nakapag-aral ang aming mga anak at kapatid sa pamamagitan ng proyektong SIKAP o Sito Kapayapaan. Ito ang sinasabing pagbabago,” he added.
Meanwhile, PBGEN Eliseo DC Cruz thanked the Former Rebels on behalf of the men and women of PRO CALABARZON and the Armed Forces through the 202nd Brigade for their surrender. “Nagpapasalamat kami sa inyong katapangang magbalik loob sa pamahalaan. Patuloy naming pagsumikapan na maging matagumpay ang mga proyektong nakalaan sa inyo upang mas maraming katulad ninyo ang aming mapaglingkuran at mas marami pang bumalik sa ating lipunan,” he said.
RD Cruz also encouraged them to not loose hope on the government’s services and programs for its people especially for the former rebels. “Ang gobyerno ang tunay na naririto upang mahalin ang bawat Pilipino. Hindi man makakarating agad ang serbisyo ng pamahalaan, pero sa puso at sa isip, kayo ay kasama ng ating gobyerno,” he further said.
As of this date, there were already 186 Former Rebels since the establishment of RTF-ELCAC in 2017.(PIO-4A
